For those of you who are fans of syrupy compassionate-conservatism and a record on taxes in Arkansas which mirrors that of Gov. Bob Taft’s in Ohio, Mike Huckabee will be at the Easton Barnes & Noble from noon to 1 p.m. today.

This article is a good response to the Grover Norquists & Club for Growth types who think that cutting taxes is the be-all and end-all of conservatism -

Sometimes, much as they suck, we need taxes. I'm sure the people in MN wish their governor had been spending tax dollars on infrastructure BEFORE the bridge collapsed and killed so many people there. Huckabee is a conscientious conservative - that means he's working for the American people not for CfG or any other mindless tally sheet.

P.S. Huckabee's new book is an excellent way to get in the right mood for Christmas! No syrup - just helpful perspectives in dealing with reality in all the ways it hits us!
