State Representative Dan Stewart Running for the Ohio Senate, Has Legal Issues
From Buckeye State Blog:
Term limited State Representative Dan Stewart isn’t letting his political career come to an end, he’s planning on a State Senate run.
A little over an hour ago, Dan posted the following on Facebook:
“As a Democratic State Rep. that has fought hard for working families and the folks of cent. OH, I don’t want term limits to stop that. Please join me as I announce my campaign for the Ohio Senate, tom. Thurs. Feb 18th, 5:15 p.m. state house lower level (by the museum area). Please, those who support what I’ve done, come and tell your friends!”
I recently made fun of him for being the first state lawmaker to be married in the Ohio Statehouse, noting that the halls of government are equivalent to a church for progressives.
His announcement hasn’t even happened yet, but apparently Stewart has a lot of enemies, even in his own party. Someone took the time to obtain and scan the following legal documents:
1) This was filed just this month, which appears to be a tax issue brought by the city of Columbus against Stewart, Option One Mortgage, and a company Stewart runs out of his home. What is this issue about? Or is it a foreclosure? It looks serious, but I’ll save it for The Dispatch to figure this out, as they are known for their TOP-NOTCH EXCLUSIVE CONTENT HIGHLIGHTED IN BRIGHT RED MARKS.
2) In 2007, Ripley Animal Clinic successfully sued him for a bill of more than $700. It appears they had to garnish his Statehouse pay.
3) And in 2004, his Credit Union bank went after him, only to later dismiss the case. Why?
Anyway, there is a lot for his Democrat and Republican opponents to use. This is just the surface. For example, someone could look into his 2009 annual campaign finance report, which has a negative balance of $1,643. He also reimbursed himself for roughly that same amount in expenses. Apparently, Dan is keeping up with the Sen. Ray Miller tradition of living out of campaign funds paid for by unions and lobbyists.
And if the heat gets too hot, Dan can always run away to a tropical paradise with Ohio’s leading “Homeless Lobbyist” Bill Faith, the drunk driving former campaign manager for Mike Coleman- Greg Haas, and other lobbyists. (WHO PAID FOR THAT BEER, DAN!?)
