From James Nash in The Columbus Dispatch:

With just three weeks remaining to bring misdemeanor charges against former Attorney General Marc Dann, prosecutors have charged his estranged wife with improperly using her influence to secure a grant for the university where she teaches journalism.

Alyssa Lenhoff, 47, who filed for divorce from Dann last week, is expected to plead guilty Monday to a single misdemeanor charge of having an unlawful interest in a public contract.

Prosecutors say Lenhoff, who directs the journalism program at Youngstown State University, misused her relationship with Dann to secure a $6,500 grant from the attorney general’s office in 2007 to teach a class on unsolved crimes. Lenhoff was close to Dann’s chief of staff, Edgar C. Simpson, who agreed to cooperate with prosecutors as part of a plea deal he struck in March. The two had worked together at a newspaper in Warren.

Marc could have charges filed against him soon. I wonder if prosecutors would perhaps drop Lenhoff’s charge if she cooperates with investigators?
