With Kyle Sisk and me already in the steel cage, it is getting really crowded in here!
Quick: Whose Ohio gubernatorial campaign slogan is ”End Civilization”?
Democrat Ted Strickland’s? No.
Republican John Kasich’s? No.
It’s state prison inmate A243205, also known as Sean Swain.
The 40-year-old Swain has launched another write-in campaign for governor from his cell at the Mansfield Correctional Institution. He calls himself the Zapatista Party candidate.
He ran four years ago as an Insurgent Party candidate. Unsuccessfully, by the way.
Swain, who is serving 20 years to life for aggravated murder in Erie County, is writing letters to the media trying to drum up support.
His latest missive suggests a pay-per-view, steel-cage wrestling match featuring himself, Strickland and Kasich. The winner’s campaign would get the proceeds.
The Zapatista Party is an armed Mexican socialist, anti-globalist movement that has been supported by well-known geopolitical scholars, such as the members of the hard-rock group Rage Against the Machine.
And his website is so nutty and hard-left, that I almost feel like I’m reading Progress Ohio’s blog. Check it out:
Isn’t it time we had an Anarchist homeland? I’m down for that. And I’m not talking about “change.” Don’t confuse me with Obama. He ripped-off a bunch of pseudo-socialist ideas from my 2006 campaign and got everybody believing in “change.” No, I’m not talking about rocking the boat—I’m talking about sinking the motherfucker.[..]
I’m running for Governor of Ohio from prison in 2010 as a Zapatista Party candidate. I don’t want to be Ohio’s NEXT governor; I want to be Ohio’s LAST governor. And I’m not counting on the stone-dragging zombies who hug their chains and mindlessly follow the fascist program to write-in my name on the ballot. That’s not gonna happen.
I’m counting on you…and millions like you from all over who want to be free, who want to escape the plantation. Ohio has the fastest shrinking population, so all we have to do is what we did in Chicago in ’68, what we did in Seattle to fight the WTO, what we did in Boulder and St. Paul in ’08…only we stick around. Abbie Hoffman said, “The ground you’re standing on is liberated territory. Defend it.” Imagine millions of us defending the ground we’re standing on…in Ohio.
HA HA HA “Sinking” the state…. Sounds like a very honest Democrat.
And defending our ground? Then the state should certainly fight back, just like Gov. Rhodes took care of those violent Kent State hippies in 1970.
Very amusing stuff
Perhaps this scene from The Bonfire of the Vanities gives you an idea of the chaos inside Speaker Armond Budish’s office when the ACLU sent out their press release this afternoon, on what would have been an otherwise boring snow day. HA HA (NSFW):
This is quite accurate, and could be watched in lieu of attending a 4-year journalism school…
Relevant macroeconomics in the hizouse!:
I’m not a big fan of polling, because it is often used by lazy reporters as a replacement for real news.
But if polling must be conducted, The (Columbus) Other Paper asks the hard questions that legitimate polling firms are too scared to ask.
Not only did Meteorologist Ben Gelbert write a fascinating column in the NY Times about global warming from a historical perspective, he has his own rap song!:
You are the 19th “Douchiest” college in America.
Gov. Ted Strickland apparently has a real Twitter account, instead of the fake one set up by his communications shop.
